Purpose: Dormant Tree

“Purpose: Dormant Tree” is a casual platform/puzzle 2D about Rupert,  a sentient droplet of water, and a firefly Piri on their journey to save the firefly's tree which is in a dormant state.

Purpose:

This game is about a water droplet named Rupert who came to exist because a supernatural force wanted him to help Piri save his tree. Making Rupert's purpose to save this dormant tree, he and his now buddy Piri have to go through many puzzles and platforms to finally reach every single root of the tree and bring it back to it's normal state.

Different and why

- Our focus on the game is the relation between the two characters. They help each other mutually to achieve goals and overcome challenges along the way.

- Rupert has some trouble jumping,  therefore the little droplet needs to get inside the earth to overcome some obstacles as well as climbing trees which are grown from the light of his partner Piri.

- As said before, Piri can create a magical light beam which accelerates the growth of plants which help Rupert get through some difficult places like some bodies of water or higher platform. This light beam is finite and has to be replenished by eating some fruit along the way. The light beam is only effective in the shadow or a dark moody place.

Gameplay

This game is a local coop in which each character will be controlled in a different way. Rupert will be controlled by the keyboard whilst Piri is controlled by the mouse. Each character's inputs are very basic, allowing the player to play by himself as well as with a friend on the same computer.

House drawn

Our artwork is "house drawn". Adriana is drawing the sprites and all of the needed artwork for the game. The game style is based on cartoons which make the game significantly more appealing to users. Here are some examples:
